Interest in the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships in Jamaica has been substantial.
Day 2 of the CMI – Comitรฉ Maritime International President, Ann Fenech’s trip in Kingston was dedicated to meetings with maritime practitioners, with Chief Justice The Hon. Mr. Justice Bryan Sykes and The Hon. Mr. Justice David Batts at the Supreme Court as well as a discussion-session with Judges of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of Jamaica.
The Convention has been very well received and in the words of The Hon. Mrs. Justice Tricia Hutchinson Shelly the Jamaican Judiciary โ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ข๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง.โ
Jamaican maritime law practitioners and maritime service providers alike equally, strongly believe that the signing and ratification by Jamaica of the Convention will further strengthen Jamaicaโs maritime legal structures essential in the supporting of Jamaicaโs extensive maritime cluster.
