Spain’s Instrument of Ratification of the Judicial Sales Convention
Thursday 2 July 2026, the Spanish Official Gazette published Spain’s Instrument of Ratification of the United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships, adopted in New York on 7 December 2022.
This is an important step for Spanish maritime law and for the international recognition of judicial sales of ships. The Convention provides greater legal certainty for purchasers, creditors, registries and all stakeholders involved in maritime enforcement proceedings, by ensuring that judicial sales conferring clean title are given international effect among Contracting States.
