BOARD MEETING BELGIAN MLA HELD ON BOARD HYDROGEN POWERED ‘HYDROVILLE’
The Belgian Maritime Law Association held the last board meeting of its 128th working year on board m/v HYDROVILLE.
The HYDROVILLE is a passenger shuttle that uses hydrogen to power a diesel engine without emission of CO2, particulate matter or sulphur oxides. In 2017 it was the first hydrogen powered seagoing craft registered in the Belgian ship registry and the first hydrogen powered ship classified by Lloyd’s Register. The vessel started its service as a shuttle between Kruibeke and Antwerp to transport people during rush hours to avoid traffic jams. Today, the vessel is used as a testing and exhibition vessel and is also used for meetings and dinners on board.
A great many thanks to CMB for the use of the HYDROVILLE ! We can truly call ourselves wet shipping lawyers now.
