CMI – Comité Maritime International in Antigua & Barbuda – Part I
In her capacity as President of the CMI, Ann Fenech recently visited Antigua at the invitation of HE Ambassador Dr. Dwight Gardiner, Registrar General and Director of the Department of Marine Services and Merchant Shipping (ADOMS). During her visit, she met with the highest representatives of the country to discuss the next steps for Antigua & Barbuda following the signing of the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships in Malta on June 19, 2024.
It has been an enriching experience learning about the role Antigua plays in this Eastern Caribbean region and the significant efforts it is embarking on to make its maritime product even more robust.
The signing of the Convention enhances this role, with the Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the Attorney General both stressing, during private meetings with them, their determination for Antigua & Barbuda to ratify the Convention as soon as possible.
