CMI President Meets Japanese Minister of State for Maritime Affairs
CMI President Ann Fenech was honoured to be invited to a meeting with Mr Nakano Hiromasa, Japanese Minister of State for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, with responsibility for maritime affairs.
Ann Fenech was accompanied by Mr Tomotaka Fujita, President of the Japanese Maritime Law Association; Mr Peter Laurijssen, Rapporteur of the CMI International Working Group on the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships; and Mr Hidefusa Iida, member of the Japanese Maritime Law Association.
The Minister expressed his appreciation for the role played by the CMI in the unification of maritime law. In turn, Ann Fenech thanked the Minister for his Ministry’s strong support of CMI Tokyo 2025 and presented him with a copy of the CMI’s publication on the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships. She outlined the benefits of the Convention and the advantages of Japan becoming a signatory and ratifying state.
