Day 3 – IMO LEG 112
Day 3 was characterised by very interesting debates on a range of subjects including, MASS, the ongoing impact of the situation in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov on shipping and seafarers, and guidance for the proper implementation and application of IMO liability and compensation conventions.
Under Agenda Item 12, Ann Fenech, in her capacity as CMI – Comitรฉ Maritime International President, had the privilege of briefing the Legal Committee on the significant progress achieved in the signing of the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships and how that following the last session (LEG 111), another signing ceremony took place in Malta, where Malta, Spain, Cyprus, Italy, Cรดte d’Ivoire, and Antigua and Barbuda signed the convention.
As of today the convention has 32 signatories and so all efforts must now focus on ratification.
CMI’s President was joined at the meeting by Tom Birch Reynardson, Chair of our IWG on MASS, Johanna Ohlman, member of the Piracy and Attacks on the High Seas IWG and Valeria Eboli, Chair of our IWG on Unfair Treatment of Seafarers.
