On Saturday, 17 May 2025, a milestone moment took place during the Conference Plenary Session at the Fuyo Room, with the formal adoption of the Resolution on Lex Maritima.
This resolution represents a significant step toward identifying and articulating the general principles of international maritime law – a foundational element in advancing legal certainty, coherence, and harmonisation across jurisdictions.
The adoption of the Lex Maritima resolution reflects years of scholarly and institutional work within the CMI – Comitรฉ Maritime Internationalรฉ, reaffirming its commitment to shaping the future of maritime law through collaboration, legal clarity, and global dialogue.

As part of the Young CMI initiatives the final day of the CMI – Comitรฉ Maritime International Tokyo Conference 2025, the session titled โCMI: The Digital Transformation of Maritime Lawโ brought together a dynamic panel of international experts to discuss the legal evolution of electronic bills of lading (eBLs) and their global implications for shipping and trade.
