IMO LEGAL COMMITTEE 112
The 24 March 2025 marked the start of LEG 112 at the International Maritime Organization headquarters on the Embankment in London.
The agenda is diverse, with a focus on the rights of seafarers, fraudulent registration of ships, piracy, armed robbery against ships, MASS, and other interesting matters.
The committee is also set to decide on a new work output related to the suitability of IMO liability and compensation in relation to alternative fuels.
Several active members of CMI – ComitΓ© Maritime International were in attendance on the first day. Joining CMI President Ann Fenech were Haris Zografakis and Jolien Kruit, chair and member of our IWG on decarbonisation, EXCO Member Eduardo Albors who was part of the Spanish delegation, and Tomotaka FUJITA, President of the Japanese Maritime Law Association, who was part of the Japanese delegation.
