Italian MLA: Sailing Challenge Cup 2023
A good number of teams gathered at the historical Italian Yacht Club in Genoa, one of the oldest sailing clubs in the Mediterranean, on Friday 29 September 3023 to take part in the annual Sailing Challenge Cup of the Italian Maritime Law Association.
The Regatta was raced in the Club’s fleet of Beneteau First 7.50.
The day took off with a briefing and a breakfast with focaccia bread, with lots of excitement and enthusiasm and familiarisation of the sailing boats and chats about the wind.
It was a magnificent day, very warm and with a gentle breeze.
The boats and the crew, made of members of the Italian MLA, were towed to the sailing field off Lido d’Albaro and the Regatta was completed with very little breeze. There was no team really dominant as different boats took the first in the three races: Artica crewed by Simone Moretti (helm), Ilaria Simonini and Fillippo Cassola in race one; Bona, crewed by Giandomenico Boglione (helm), Lorenzo Pellerano, Andrea Facco in race two; Nella crewed by Giorgio Briozzo (helm), Camilla Del Re and Giovanni Marchiafava, in race three.
Bona won the Cup by placing second, first and second consecutively in the races.
At the end of the race everybody headed to the Yacht Club and enjoyed lunch, which was followed by the awarding ceremony and the prize giving ceremony.
