Venezuelan Maritime Law Association Welcomes New Executive Committee Under Dynamic Leadership
Caracas, Venezuela – The Venezuelan Maritime Law Association (AVDM) proudly announces the recent election of its new Executive Committee for the upcoming term. This significant transition marks a renewed commitment to the advancement of maritime legal studies and practice in Venezuela. Leading this esteemed body is the distinguished Ms. Cristina Mujica Perret-Gentil, who makes history as the first woman to lead the Association in almost 50 years. Her recognized expertise and profound dedication to the maritime sector uniquely position her to steer the AVDM towards new horizons. She will be joined by Mr. Juan J. Itriago, a renowned attorney with extensive experience in both Venezuelan and New York legal spheres, who assumes the role of Vice President.

The core team includes María Jesús López as Secretary General, and Gabriel Marcano as Treasurer. Key directorates are also helmed by respected professionals: Ángeles Rodríguez leads Publications and Events, José Manuel Vilar oversees Maritime Legislation, Benjamín Cordero handles Insurance Affairs, Idemaro González manages Shipping Affairs, and Yelitza Suárez is dedicated to Port and Customs Affairs. The committee is further strengthened by dedicated alternate members, including Pedro Olveira (Alternate Secretary General), Alejandro Guzmán (Alternate Treasurer), and Ana Mary Ramírez, Iván Darío Sabatino Pizzolante, and Tomás Malavé as Alternate Directors, collectively ensuring comprehensive coverage and robust support for the Association’s diverse initiatives.
