yCMI Seminar in Antwerp – 2025 Edition
youngCMI Seminar — 13 & 14 June 2025, Antwerp
youngCMI or yCMI seminars are a yearly event organized in turn by the young maritime lawyers of the British, Dutch, German, French and Belgian MLAs. The 2025 edition was organized by the youngsters of the Belgian Maritime Law Association and took place in the great maritime city of Antwerp, which gave me the pleasure of addressing the opening speech as president of the Belgian MLA.
The seminar started on Friday with presentations by delegate speakers from the 5 participating countries, addressing a range of current topics and recent developments in maritime law, followed by a discussion with an experienced panel composed of Prof. Dr. Frank Stevens and Prof. Dr. Lief Bleyen.
On Saturday young speakers from the 5 YCMI countries and external speakers Capt. Jeroen Weyn (Nautical Commission to the Antwerp Enterprise Court), Prof. Dr. Eric Van Hooydonck (Ghent University), Prof. Dr. Christa Sys (University of Antwerp) and assistant Professor Marta Kolacz (Maastricht University) took the floor.
The two-day yCMI seminar was well-larded with social activities and outings, giving the more than 100 attendees from the 5 yCMI countries and attendees from Spain, Italy and Denmark the opportunity to network.
