Profile
In early 2011, the Executive Council established an ad hoc working group to identify legal issues for study involving the Arctic Ocean and the Antarctic’s Southern Ocean in view of climate change and increased shipping in the polar regions. An International Working Group (“IWG”) was approved in 2012. Since then, the membership of the IWG has increased to include representation from several interested countries. The IWG meets largely by e-mail and presentations on selected topics have been made at CMI conferences. Any input from the membership at large would be gratefully received.
