CMI delegation present at IMO LEG Committee 110
A strong CMI delegation led by President Ann Fenech and joined by Deucalion Rediadis and Tom Birch Reynardson attended and participated at IMO Legal Committee 110 held between the 27th and 31st March. The Committee was chaired by Mrs Gillian Grant of Canada and the vice chair was Mr Ivane Abashidze from Georgia.
This was the last legal committee attended by Mr Fred Kenney as Director Legal Affairs and External Relations Division whose term of office comes to an end in August 2023. The CMI would like to thank Mr Kenney for his sterling work and efforts and great cooperation with the CMI over all these years.
– MASS – by Tom Birch Reynardson
The International Working Group on MASS has been requested by IMO to assist with legal input into the IMO joint working group (JWG) on MASS. The JWG is a working group set up by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), the Legal Committee (LEG) and the Facilitation Committee (FAL) in order to coordinate the work of IMO in tackling the regulation of MASS.

– Judicial Sales of Ships – by Ann Fenech
Agenda item 17 – Any Other Business – of LEG 110 considered document LEG110/17 which was a joint document submitted by the CMI and the UN Office of Legal Affairs. Ann Fenech presented this joint report and is delighted to report that it was strongly supported by delegations from United States, Japan, China, Thailand, Georgia, New Zealand, Australia, Croatia, Greece, BIMCO and ICS.
