Congratulations to Arsenio Dominguez Velasco
The Comité Maritime International would like to congratulate Arsenio Dominguez Velasco for being confirmed as the next Secretary General of the IMO by the General Assembly of the IMO.
The CMI enjoys an excellent relationship with the IMO which it considers as one of its most important consultative members. The CMI has been working very closely with the IMO Legal Committee since the legal committee of IMCO, as the IMO was then called in 1968, was set up as a direct response to the major oil spill from the Torrey Canyon. The extensive co-operation between the IMCO legal committee and CMI led to the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution damage of 1969. Since then the CMI and IMO have produced several conventions together.
We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the work and efforts of Mr. Kitack Lim and look forward to taking our relationship with the IMO under the leadership of Mr. Arsenio Dominguez Velasco from strength to strength.
