Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships
Malta is gearing for the celebratory event on the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships on the 19th of June.
Preparations are underway for the Treaty Book to be brought to Malta from New York for a celebratory event hosted by the Maltese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at which States will have the opportunity of signing the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships. It is expected that a number of EU Member States and other non EU States will take advantage of what is being considered as an exceptional event where the Treaty Book will be coming to Malta after the Convention was signed in Beijing in September 2023.
Since the European Union signed the Convention on the 19th June, EU member states may now sign the Convention. Belgium in fact already signed the Convention also in New York, together with the European Union on the 14th March.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CMI and UNCITRAL have issued a Concept Note and a document explaining the modalities for signature so as to encourage States to attend and sign the Convention in Malta on the 19th June.
Beijing Convention Concept Note
