Meeting with IMO Secretary General
Ann Fenech, paid a courtesy visit on Secretary General Kitack Lim on December 6 at the IMO in London. Present for the meeting was Frederick Kenney, Director Legal and External Relations Division.
It was an extremely fruitful meeting where various issues where discussed including those sectors where the CMI could continue to be of assistance to the IMO in its current work in connection with MASS and fraudulent registries.
Ann Fenech thanked the Secretary General for the participation and co-operation of the IMO during the deliberations in Working Group V1 at UNCITRAL on the draft convention on the international effects of judicial sales of ships which has just been adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations.
The IMO has agreed to be the repository of the notices of judicial sales and the certificates of judicial sales via an additional module on the IMO GISIS platform.
She also presented Mr. Kitack Lim with the two volumes capturing the history of the CMI. The first by Albert Lilar and Carlo van der Bosch and the latest one by Giorgio Berlingieri and Stuart Hetherington.
The IMO and the CMI have been working closely together for many decades.
